ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration’s drive against unhygienic food outlets continued as the authority, during checking of food outlets in the markets, fined four food outlets for failing to comply with the hygiene and sanitation rules.
The inspection teams of food and health department conducted 186 inspections of food outlets during the last week and issued six notices as well as fined four food outlets for failing to comply with food safety laws.
The inspection teams also confiscated filthy utensils and samples of various food items sent to the laboratory for analysis. Deputy director food inspected food outlets at the Safa Mall Shopping Centre, Jinnah Super Market and imposed fines worth Rs38,000 on the owners of food outlets for unhygienic conditions of kitchens. He also imposed fines Rs3,500 on food outlets on account of poor sanitation conditions during checking in the Abbasi Market and F-8 Markaz, Islamabad.
