ISLAMABAD: In a bid to further tighten noose against the tax evaders, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has inducted 187 inspectors into the Inland Revenue Service across the country.
The FBR, through a notification, appointed the officers of BS-16 at regional tax offices (RTOs) and large taxpayers units (LTUs) in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Quetta, Sargodha and Sialkot. These officials passed the Federal Public Service Commission exams.
Officials at the RTO Karachi said the team members were increased considering the human resource shortage, especially in the wake of an aggressive strategy to take action against tax evaders.
The new inspectors have been authorised to take assistance from law-enforcement agencies. Recently, the FBR changed the jurisdictions of RTOs. Some RTOs have been assigned to identify potential taxpayers through physical surveys.
The FBR, in the notification, directed the new appointees to join their duties at their assigned places by December 13. Seniority of newly-appointed inspectors would be governed in accordance with Civil Servants (Seniority) Rules, 1993.
The Chief Commissioners concerned have also been directed to furnish list of newly-appointed Inspectors, who joined their duties along with copy of joining reports to the Board, after December 13 immediately.
