RIO GRANDE CITY: US Border Patrol agents seized more than 1,900 pounds of marijuana as a result of three drug busts throughout the day.
The largest of the seizures took place near Fronton, where one person was arrested after agents spotted a group of smugglers with the narcotic.
Agents arrived at the scene, causing members of the group to flee back to Mexico and leave behind 19 bundles, or nearly 1,300 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested one of the group members, according to the release.
The 1,900 pounds of marijuana are valued at more than $1.5 million, according to the release.
