1st Master Course: Speakers for promoting consumer welfare

ISLAMABAD: The businessmen and stakeholders have been urged to ensure high level of compliance for promoting consumer welfare.

The speakers said this at a seminar titled ‘Master Course on Competition Law and Deceptive Marketing’. They, lauding the role played by the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) in protecting consumers through effective enforcement of competition law, called upon the businesses and stakeholders to raise the level of compliance for promoting consumer welfare.

The Master Course was held under the auspices of CCP and Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) USA and was organised by Continuing Legal Education Institute Pakistan (CLEIP), and the Brands Protection Group (ACIF) in Karachi, according to the press released issued here.

The speakers included Dr Joseph Wilson, Mueen Batlay, Dr Shahzad Ansar, Members CCP, Russell Damtoft, and Krisztian Katona from the Federal Trade Commission, USA.

The Master Course on Deceptive Marketing is the first of its kind in addressing concerns relating to consumer protection and guidelines for the industry in communication and advertising. Other topics of the Course included Vertical Arrangements, Relevant Markets, Intellectual Property Rights and International Developments in Competition law, as the subject of Competition Regulation needs a lot of   awareness programs and attention of business executives.
