LEBANON: A Cincinnati woman and inmate in the Lebanon Correctional Institution each face felony drug charges alleging they were involved in smuggling strips used in the treatment of addiction to drugs, such as heroin.
Andrea N. Dirr, 35, is charged with mailing inmate Scott Huy, 35, suboxone strips during March and April 2015.
Suboxone strips are a prescription medicine used as part of treatment programs for addiction to opoids, including heroin. Smuggling of the strips is an increasing problem at prisons around the country.
Huy and Dirr each face three counts of illegal conveyance of drugs into a prison and three counts of possession of criminal tools.
They were charged in indictments issued by a Warren County grand jury, according to a report issued Monday by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
Dirr is to be arraigned on Dec. 4 in Warren County Common Pleas Court. No arraignment date had been set for Huy, who serving four years in the prison for drug is trafficking.
