200 horsepower Ariel Nomad introduced with 4-cyclinder, 6-speed manual gearbox

SYDNEY: Ariel Motor Company has introduced off their new model named Ariel Nomad which will be showcased at Autosport International in January. Described by Ariel Motor Company boss Simon Saunders as being the “Atom’s mucky brother”, the new two-wheel drive Nomad comes with a significantly higher ground clearance and has chunky tires suitable for off-roading.

The off-road vehicle also benefits from a long-travel suspension and features a complex rollover protection along with a reinforced chassis. Ariel has been testing the concept model with 15-inch alloy wheels in 235/70 tires, but the production vehicle will get a wide variety of wheel + tire combos.

Ariel Nomad performance is believed to come from a Honda-sourced 4-cylinder 2.4-liter tuned 200 bhp (149 kW) with six-speed manual gearbox also provided by the Japanese company, the vehicle also come with a mechanical limited slip differential offered as standard equipment but more high-tech systems will be available at an additional cost. Ariel Motor is estimating a curb weight of 700 kg (1,543 lbs) and Ariel Nomad price below the £30,000 ($46,700 / €38,300) mark.
