TOKYO: Mazda has introduced the 2015 Mazda Carol in Japan. Essentially the vehicle a rebadged Suzuki Alto, isn’t terribly attractive but at least it’s not too offensive, the new Mazda Carol has a straight forward design which eschews the Japanese company’s trademark Kodo styling philosophy.
The entry-level Mazda Carol comes sparsely equipped but features keyless entry, air conditioning, and a 2-speaker audio system. And for higher-end variants of the new Japanese car are more palatable as they offer a tilt steering wheel, power windows, and heated front seats.
2015 Mazda Carol performance is provided by a 660cc engine 49 PS (36 kW) and 58 Nm (42 lb-ft) of torque. There’s also a VVT variant which develops 52 PS (38 kW) and 63 Nm (46 lb-ft) of torque.
The fuel consumption for entry-level variant returns 27.2 km/L (3.6 L/100km / 63.9 mpg US / 76.8 mpg UK) and for VVT version is even more fugal as it returns 37.0km / L (2.7 L/100km / 87 mpg US / 104.5 mpg UK).
The new 2015 Mazda Carol pricing starts at ¥847,800 ($7,026 / €5,763 / £4,529) and will go on sale on January 30th next-year.
