Islamabad SSP Asmatullah visits ICCI to discuss security issues

ISLAMABAD: Asmatullah Junajo, Senior Superintendent of Police, Islamabad visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to consult and take business community on board on police initiatives for improving security in the federal capital and said that FC has been deployed in markets to boost up security in order to ensure smooth growth of business activities.

He said businessmen were making significant contribution to improving the economy by promoting business activities and paying tax and no coercive measures would be taken to close shops forcefully on important occasions like New Year etc. He said police was fully responsible to protect the lives and properties of local citizens including businessmen and every humanly possible measure would be taken to provide maximum possible security in business centers and residential areas.

He said 625 police personnel in addition to other law enforcement agencies and lady police force were deployed on the eve of New Year to ensure better security and added that more police force would be deployed to enhance security in Islamabad. He said Market Associations should develop close liaison with FC deployed on market duty in order to further strengthen security situation in commercial areas.

Speaking at the occasion, Muzammil Hussain Sabri, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry appreciated the proactive approach of Islamabad Police in order to tighten security in business centers, public places and residential areas. He said Islamabad was on high alert and business community would extend all possible cooperation to police to counter security threats.

He said improved security was the need of the hour to promote business and investment activities and stressed upon the need of regulation interaction and close liaison between ICCI and ICT Police so that with joint efforts, Islamabad could be made a well secured and peaceful city. He lauded the improved security arranged by the ICT Police on the eve of new year and urged that police should ensure such enhanced security on regular basis to avoid any untoward incident in the federal capital.

 

Representatives of local markets highlighted various issues that needed the urgent attention of ICT police. They said police stations should be directed to develop close coordination with market unions in order to control criminal activities in business centers and effectively fight with anti-social elements.
