2016 Mazda CX-5 to have 4WD 6 speed, newly designed grille

TOKYO: The automaker giant Mazda, brings some big changes in its 2016 Mazda CX-5 since the vehicle’s debut as a 2013 model. It has proven itself a worthy competitor and has received rave reviews from the auto industry for the first generation, and a lot of buzz for the upcoming release.

What users will notice right away are some exterior changes, including a newly designed grille, and LED headlamps, tail lamps and fog lights.

Mazda have also confirmed a new luxury package available on the GS trim, which is the mid-level option. That will give users leather seating and soft interior elements, 8 way power seating, more USB ports, and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) safety feature has been added to the standard blind sport monitoring.

The GT trim comes with a navigation system, which is implemented in to the touch screen central console. This package also comes with an adaptive front lighting system, which means lighting automatically turns when taking corners to ensure buyers see the road clearly.

The Tech package has also been completely reconfigured for the 2016 Mazda CX-5. It now offers smart brake support, Mazda’s new radar cruise control, forward obstruction warnings, high beam control, and lane departure warnings

There will be several paint options to choose from this year including the new Sonic Silver Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, and Titanium Flash Mica. The usual white, grey, red, and black remain, while the Aluminium Metallic and the Blue Reflex options have been dropped.

A variety of engine and powertrain options are on offer. The 2.0 Litre engine comes in 2 Wheel Drive, with either a 6 speed manual or automatic transmission. And the 4 Wheel Drive comes only in automatic.

For the 2.5 Litre engine option, users get either a 2WD 6 speed automatic, or a 4WD 6 speed automatic.

In terms of horsepower the 2.0 gets 155, and the 2.5 gets 184.

All engine options employ the SkyActiv engine technology, which has allowed for fuel economy improvements across the board.
