TOKYO: THE 2016 MITSUBISHI Challenger (Pajero Sport in some markets) has been disclosed in patent filings. Based on the recently-launched Mitsubishi Triton, the Challenger will be a seven-seat wagon that’ll go head-to-head with the Ford Everest, Holden Colorado7, Isuzu MU-X and the Toyota Fortuner.

Details are still pretty thin on the ground, although speculation would suggest the new Challenger will share engines with the Triton and should feature the brand’s latest infotainment unit, which is likely to boast apple and android connectivity.

Interestingly, the patent filings show the Challenger (Pajero Sport) will not share the Triton’s snout and will instead get a front-end more reminiscent of the new Outlander.
