BEIJING: 2017 Ford Taurus will not only be sold in North American, but made its world debut in Shanghai also.
It is slightly longer, with the wheelbase growing by three inches to 116. It also has more luxury features, such as power-reclining rear seats that also massage, plus audio and climate control switches for those sitting in back.
In China, such features are very important because large sedans are usually chauffeur driven so it’ll be interesting to see if the North-American version of this new Taurus will have the same gadgets.
What will very likely be the same is the car’s aesthetics. Looking very much like the current Ford Falcon FG X from the Australian market, the 2017 Taurus has a face similar to the current Focus, Fusion and Mustang models.
While we are not sure what engines will eventually power the 2017 Taurus in North America, in China this sedan will be offered solely with a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 2.7L V6 engine.
The 2017 Taurus will be built at the Changan Ford plant in Hangzhou, China although these units will only serve Asian markets. For North America, the Taurus will probably continue to be built at their Chicago facility.
