2022 complaints disposed off, 278 inquiries completed: Chairman lauds NAB Lahore’s performance

LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, after reviewing the bureau’s annual performance report based on statistical data prepared by the Inspection Team, appreciated the performance of NAB Lahore, grading it outstanding with 83pc efficiency index.

Appreciating the performance of all wings of NAB Lahore under the supervision of DG NAB Lahore Bureau, he said that the inspection team had prepared results on the basis of scientific methods which would help create performance competition between the Regional Bureaus.

Chairman’s Inspection & monitoring team (CI & MT) HQ was deputed to conduct annual inspection of NAB Lahore Bureau for 2014 in order to review and evaluate the performance of NAB Lahore Bureau on the basis of the newly introduced quantified grading system.

Senior member (CI & MT) along with his team conducted the said inspection for the year of 2014. He gave a detailed briefing to the NAB chairman about the inspection. He informed that on the directions of the chairman, a quantified grading system had been devised. “Under this grading system, the performance of Regional Bureaus will be evaluated at uniform criteria. 80 per cent marks will be considered Outstanding/Excellent, 60pc to 79pc will be considered as Very Good, 40pc to 49pc will be considered as Good, while marks less than 40pc will be considered as Below Average,” the senior member added.

During the briefing, it was informed that the NAB Lahore disposed off 2022 complaints in the year 2014. The average of complaints received on yearly basis from 2009 to 2013 is 1015 while in 2014 NAB Lahore received more complaints as compared to last five years. The percentage of disposal of complaints in 2014 was 213.61pc. In the Complaint verification (CVs), NAB Lahore in 2014 disposed off 672 CVs, which is the highest figure in the history of NAB Lahore.

In 2014, NAB Lahore authorised 349 inquiries and completed 278 inquiries. It was also informed that the NAB Lahore authorised 91 investigations and completed 59 investigations. The total numbers of References decided by the Accountability Courts in 2014 were 51 References as against 88 References filed in 2014 in the Accountability Courts. In 2014, NAB Lahore has recovered Rs1463.85 million from 84 corrupt people after arresting them, which is highest ever number for NAB Lahore in any year.
