227 wells drilled, 65 new oil, gas discoveries since 2013

ISLAMABAD: The government is striving to increase local production of oil and gas in the country and pursuing a comprehensive strategy in this regard.

According to officials, during the tenure of the government since 2013, 227 wells had been drilled which resulted in 65 new oil and gas discoveries. Around 560 mmcfd of additional gas and 27,000 bpd of oil had also been injected in the system with the new discoveries. Domestic oil production touched the highest level of 100, 698 barrels of oil per day in December last year.
