PESHAWAR: As many as 25 Afghan refugees have completed skill training in arts of leather embroidery and handloom based weaving in Charsadda and Mardan districts.
According to a press release issued here skill centers established by AHAN under Skill Enhancement and Livelihood Initiative SELI-III are going to complete four month period successfully in 2nd week of November.
A ceremony was held at the conclusion of the training in which kits & sewing machine were distributed. The successful trainees were also awarded certificates & AHAN registration cards.
The trainees were very thankful to US-AID, UNCHR-RAHA, CAR and AHAN for supporting and facilitating them for their empowerment.
Atleast 10 skill centers for male beneficiaries in Handloom Based Weaving are functional and making woolen shawl and khaddar in Charsadda & Mardan under the supervision of Master Trainers. The centers established in sub-district Shabqadar, Charsadda are producing khaddar and woolen shawl according to market needs said Afaq Khan, Project Designer-AHAN.
The project has been launched in Charsadda and Mardan for 300 female and 200 male beneficiaries. The trainees also include 25 percent of Afghanis. The trainees got opportunity to go on Exposure Visits to Micro Financial Institutes, Women Business Development Center – Social Welfare and commercial markets/hubs in Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar.
The Trainees were provided with Enterprise development training as well aiming to establish and run sustained businesses in future.
