250MVA power transformers installed at 220kV Bund Road grid station to end loadshedding

LAHORE: In a bid to reduce loadshedding and tripping, the National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDCL) has installed and replaced 250 Minimum Vectoring Altitude (MVA) power transformer at 220 kilovolts (kV) grid station Bund Road Lahore and started electricity supply to 132 kV grid stations of Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco).

According to NTDCL spokesman, the electric power system at 220kV grid station mostly remained overloaded during summer season previously due to increasing electricity demand. The Lesco consumers were facing forced loadshedding and excessive tripping due to installation of transformers of 160 MVA at Bund Road grid station. This is third 250 MVA power transformer installed and replaced 160 MVA transformer to cater for needs of consumers, whereas forth transformer was in process of installation.

It will be one of the biggest 220 kV grid station with capacity of 1,000 MVA at Lahore. This grid station is connected with 500-KV grid station Sheikhupura (4-circuits), 220 kV grid station Kala Shah Kaku (2-circuits) and 220-KV grid station New Kot Lakhpat Lahore (2-circuits).
