The IDA delegation, led by Sardar Tanvir and Muhammad Abdul Qadir, said that the construction work of several high rise buildings in the federal capital has been halted for more than a year because of ‘inappropriate’ regulations.

Abdul Qadir said that there are several flaws in building by-laws of CDA, which were updated in 2014 and said that floor area ratio requirement for parking space is unrealistic.

“The current requirements mean that for a high rise building an underground parking space of around 400 cars, spread over 2600 square yards, has to be built,” he added.

This means six to seven underground floors, which is an unrealistic expectation, he said.

Members of the delegation complained that CDA’s planning wing is not clearing their cases and their files have been lying with the authority for over six months, causing them financial losses.

The CDA Chairman assured them that their issues would be resolved on priority basis so thatmore economic and investment opportunities may be generated in the city.
