27 profiteers fined, five arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: The Karachi administration launched a crackdown on profiteers and fined 27 shopkeepers Rs 32,000 for overcharging. Similarly five shopkeepers were arrested for selling commodities more than the fixed price.

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that crackdown on profiteers would continue and any one selling daily-use item on inflated rates would be dealt with sternly.

The anti-profiteers crackdown was carried out in Aram Bagh, Civil Lines, Ferozabad, Jamshed Quarters, Gulzar Hijri, Murad Memon Goth, Model Colony and other areas of the metropolis.

As per details, the administration fined seven milk sellers, five vegetables sellers, two grocers, six fruits sellers, six chicken sellers and a butcher.
