KUWAIT: On the first day of Ramadan, narcotics detectives arrested a citizen – who had a criminal record in liquor trafficking – with 2,800 imported liquor bottles he intended to store and sell before Eid Al-Fitr. Case papers indicate that narcotics detectives had been tipped off concerning a shipment of electricity generators at Shuwaikh Port with liquor hidden inside.
Arrangements were made with custom inspectors to facilitate the truck’s release to follow it and arrest the receiver, who turned out to be a Kuwaiti. He immediately confessed that he had been importing and smuggling liquor for years and that he had intended to store this latest shipment to sell before Eid.
