3 Denmark revenue increases 1% during 1H

COPENHAGEN: CK Hutchison said its 3 Denmark subsidiary lifted its active customer base by 3 percent in the first half of 2016. Total revenue edged up slightly year on year, although handset revenue took a tumble, and ARPU dipped compared with the previous six months.

Total revenue at Tre Danmark edged up by 1 percent to DKK 1.019 billion in the first half from DKK 1.011 billion a year ago. Net customer service revenue improved to DKK 929 million from DKK 885 million a year earlier. Contract customers accounted for 76 percent of customer service revenue, unchanged from last year. Handset revenue tumbled by 65 percent to DKK 31 million but ‘other revenue’ increased by 59 percent to DKK 59 million.

Tre had 1.22 million total registered Danish customers on 30 June, up 4 percent from 31 December 2015. Of those, 437,000 were using prepaid services (+6%) and the other 783,000 were on postpaid contracts (+3%). It said 1.19 million of those customers were active, up 3 percent from the end of 2015, with 407,000 of the prepaid customers actually using the services recently.

Average monthly churn for the contract base improved to 2.2 percent from 3.0 percent a year earlier. Twelve-month, trailing, blended Average Revenue per Active User (ARPU) was down 1 percent from the second half of 2015 at DKK 145.32, with prepaid ARPU at DKK 95.67 and post-paid ARPU at DKK 170.29.

EBITDA at Tre Danmark declined to DKK 328 million in the first half year from DKK 338 million a year earlier. Capex swelled to DKK 69 million from DKK 50 million, excluding licence fees.
