30 dams to be build in Rawalpindi division with Rs18 billion

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority in collaboration with Water and Sanitation Agency will make 13 dams worth Rs976 million.

The provincial and local government have allocated a sum of Rs18 billion to construct 30 dams and water supply schemes in Rawalpindi division.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Zahid Saeed said from the total of 30 dams and water supply schemes 13 are of Water and Sanitation Agency and Rawalpindi Development Authority worth Rs976 million. The up gradation of Rawal Lake filtration plant is also part of the schemes.

He said out of 17 schemes of dams, four each are for Rawalpindi and Chakwal, one for Jhelum, two for Islamabad and six for Attock district. For Rawal Dam upraising project Rs35.069 million have been allocated, Rs 27.805 million for Thatha Dam Rawalpindi, Rs 27.805 million Qutab Bandi Dam and Rs48.260 for Doodcha Dam.
