STARR COUNTY: Sheriff’s deputies in Starr County seized more than 3,000 pounds of marijuana in the last week and a half.
A report of a suspicious vehicle led deputies to an apartment west of Rio Grande City on Alvarez Road. They found a black 1997 Expedition loaded with 1,206 pounds of marijuana. No one was in the vehicle.
A traffic stop yesterday ended in another marijuana bust. Deputies in Roma spotted a pickup heading north on Ebony Avenue. The vehicle was speeding and didn’t have its lights on. The driver pulled over and escaped arrest by running into the brush. Authorities seized a total of 589 pounds of marijuana from the vehicle.
