31 railway stations to be upgraded

ISLAMABAD: Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has announced that 31 Railway Stations would be upgraded across the country in order to make travelling easier and comfortable for the citizens.

Talking to media in Rawalpindi on Friday, he said that trees would be planted on both sides of the track across the country to secure the railway line.

The minister invited private companies to brand railway coaches with their products for advertisements as railway tracks are available for rent. He said that all profitable trains would be restored.

He said that the government remained fully committed to eliminate corruption from Pakistan Railways. He said that Pakistan Railways was facing a deficit of 40 billion rupees, which would be dealt with as per directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Rasheed said that corruption would not be tolerated and employees involved in corruption will be handed over to National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He said that the department would fully cooperate with NAB in this regard.

He asked that people who have illegally occupied lands of Pakistan Railways should vacate it and this issue will be discussed in the cabinet meeting also. He announced that 5,000 houses will be built for Class-4 railway employees.
