33rd Spring Flowers and Birds Show 2015 opens at Rose and Jasmine Garden for 3 days

ISLAMABAD: The 33rd Annual Spring Flowers and Birds Show – 2015 opened at Rose and Jasmine Garden here on Tuesday.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with Islamabad Horticultural Society (IHS) organized the three day show. The three-day exhibition will continue till April 9, 2015.

CDA Chairman, Maroof Afzal has inaugurated the Spring Flowers and Birds Show – 2015. On this occasion Member Environment, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Member Planning and Design, Waseem Ahmad Khan, Member Engineering Shahid Sohail, Chairman National Horticulture Society, Mansoor A Khan, representatives of Islamabad Horticulture Society (IHS) and officers of the CDA Environment Wing were also present. This exhibition is being participated by CDA, Islamabad Club, Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), Quaid-e-Azam University, CSD Golra, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Pakistan Air Force, SB Eggs and KRL. Besides, the colourful flowers of spring season, different kinds of vegetables and fruits have also been displayed at various stalls. While different species of birds will also amuse the visitors of the three day Spring Flowers and Birds Show – 2015. Main features of this show are various stalls, circles, Pakistan Flag, Pakistan Map, floral sheet, miniature garden, cut flowers arrangements and floral theme for the interest of the visitors. A magazine would also be published, which would be available for the public on the last day of this show.
Speaking on the occasion, CDA Chairman, Maroof Afzal said that the main purpose of the flowers, vegetables and birds exhibition is to provide maximum entertainment and amusement to the public. He said that flowers are the part of our life as they add beauty and fragrance to our gardens, our homes as well our lives. He said that apart from beautification, various species of flowers are great source of recreation and entertainment for the residents and such exhibitions encourage people for plantation of flowers at their homes. CDA chairman said that this flowers and birds show would help promote the soft image of our country in the world as many foreign diplomats would also visit this exhibition.
He further said that during the recent Spring Tree Plantation Drive, CDA ensured maximum participation of the people from all walks of life and the people have enthusiastically planted saplings in the federal capital. He said that CDA also decorated the entry points at Kashmir Highway and Islamabad Highway with different species of colourful flowers, adding that besides plantation at major avenues and residential areas, this time CDA has also extended tree plantation drive to the newly established sectors and planted the indigenous saplings. He added that the people will enjoy different varieties of colourful spring flowers in the federal capital, which have been planted during the current Spring season. CDA Chairman, Maroof Afzal visited different stalls established in the exhibition. He appreciated the efforts of Islamabad Horticultural Society, National Horticulture Society Chairman, Mansoor A Khan for cooperation in arrangement of Annual Spring Flowers and Birds Show – 2015. Spring Flowers and Bird show would continue for three days and prizes would be distributed among the winners.
