KARACHI: Directorate General of Transit Trade is going to award contract for tracking of the transit trade vehicles from next year.

At least 35 companies have submitted their proposals, offering tracking facility but all the companies will have to go through three phases of selection process designed by the directorate.

In the first phase, at least five companies will be shortlisted which would meet terms and conditions of the department. The selected companies will be scrutinized in the second phase and cut the list to three. In the third phase, the profile of the company, capacity, manpower, skills, assets as well as the details of past contact will be examined to award the contract on merit.

It is pertinent to mention that TPL Trakker Limited has secured the tracking agreement twice during the last two years and is a strong candidate this time too. The company is the largest tracking solutions provider and has launched TPL Maps which is the Pakistan’s first indigenously developed digital mapping solution. On the other hand, National Logistic Cell may give tough time to the TPL for acquiring the tracking contract for the transit vehicles.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has instructed the directorate general to strictly check bank guarantees of the company before awarding the contract.
