20% of companies likely to cancel planned trips to France

PARIS: A Business Travel Coalition (BTC) survey revealed that 20% of companies are likely or somewhat likely to cancel planned trips to France in the wake of Friday’s terrorist attacks.

Seventy percent of respondents said they were somewhat or very likely to let employees decide if they want to travel to France; 55% said they were somewhat or very likely to let employees decide if they want to travel to Europe as a whole.

The survey was completed by 84 corporate, university and government travel, sourcing and risk managers from 17 countries, according to the BTC.

The survey also asked participants about their plans if the investigation into the attack finds it was just one of many in the planning stages, and 16% said they were somewhat to very likely to cancel travel to France if that is the case; 5% said they would do the same for Europe as a whole.

For the same circumstance, 30% said they would be somewhat to very likely to cancel travel to France until they considered strategic modifications to their travel policy, with 35% making that indication for Europe as a whole.
