BRASILIA: Brazil’s ANP petroleum regulator said it had authorized 37 companies from 17 countries to participate in next month’s auction of oil exploration blocks.
The companies selected to participate include Colombian state-controlled oil company Ecopetrol, Panama’s Petrosynergy and Argentina’s Oil M&S, the ANP said in a statement.
Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petrobras, U.S. oil supermajor ExxonMobil, British Petroleum and China National Offshore Oil Corporation also were given the go-ahead to submit bids.
A total of 266 blocks spanning parts of 12 Brazilian states and including both onshore and offshore areas will be on offer in Brazil’s 13th licensing round, which is scheduled for Oct. 7.
The ANP said in its statement that it was continuing a strategy aimed at diversifying exploration areas in Brazil and attracting companies with a range of profiles.
