KUALA LUMPUR: Some 214 bottles of ganja vape were seized following raids in Banting and Ampang.

Seven syndicate members were also detained in the operation conducted by the Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING).

It is learnt that the ganja-flavoured vape liquids were seized from a house in Bandar Mahkota, Banting, and a condominium in Ampang on Monday.

STING personnel raided the house in Banting, which was used to manufacture the liquids.

“Police also seized equipment used to produce the vape liquids,” a source said.

It is learnt that the condominium in Ampang is used to store the liquids.

“The authorities believe the syndicate has been in operation for about a year. They are selling the ganja vape online,” another source revealed.

It is believed that there are other syndicates who peddle similar liquids online.

“These raids are important to send a message to everyone not to produce such vape liquids.

“Police are tracking down other syndicates that may have a similar modus operandi,” a source said.

Congratulating STING on the success, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted that ganja-laced cookies and cakes were also seized.

“Good Job STING. The war against drugs must be waged on without fear or favour,” he said.

Vaping has courted controversy recently with the Health Ministry coming down hard against sellers of vape liquids containing nicotine.

While cases of ganja-filled vape liquids are isolated at best, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department is always on the lookout for such peddlers.

Industry pioneer and Malaysia E-Vaporizers & Tobacco Alternative Association president Allen Foo also called for a crackdown on vapers who abuse drugs.
