WESLACO: More than 4,000 pounds of marijuana valued at $24 million was seized after a traffic stop near the Texas-Mexico border.
Department of Public Safety officials say a highway patrol trooper pulled over a tractor-trailer along U.S. 83 in Starr County for a commercial vehicle inspection. During the inspection, the trooper found 174 bundles of marijuana concealed inside the pressure washer skid being towed on the flatbed trailer.
The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Carlos A. Lozano, of Pasadena, Texas, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was placed in federal custody and the investigation into the incident is still underway.
