41 applied for post: Sindh yet to interview candidates for post of SRB chief

KARACHI: Despite a lapse of three months, the Sindh government failed to interviews 41 candidates who have applied for the post of chairman of the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB). The provincial government invited applications from suitable candidates through an advertisement in newspapers on December 26, to appoint the SRB chairman and January 10 was the last date for submissi0n of applications.

As per details, the authority concerned received about 41 applications and the selection committee was scheduled to start interview of the short-listed candidates within 10 days from the last date for application submission. But, the interviews could not be started so far.

The government has constituted a selection committee under the Chairmanship of Adviser to Sindh CM on Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah and consists of Sindh Chief Secretary, the Finance Secretary, the Law Secretary, Member Sindh Public Service Commission (to be nominated by SPSC) and the SGA&CD Secretary.

About 41 applications were received till the last date and the list of candidates along with their CVs has been forwarded to the selection committee chairman. As per the advertisement, the applicant must be a Chartered Accountant, an MBA Finance or have Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in Finance/Accounting/Law.

Besides the applicant must have at least 25 years experience of which at least 10 years should be in a senior management position in a Public Sector (BS 20 or above in government) or a multinational corporate organisation or bank. The post is contractual and is for a period of two years. It is to be mentioned here that the SRB is functioning without permanent Chairman since April 2013. Tashfeen K Niaz, who is Member Operations is acting as the SRB chairman.

Tashfeen is also among the 41 candidates who have applied for the post of chairman SRB.
