42 percent respondents says internet negatively influence morality, 29 takes it as positive: Research study

LONDON: A recent research has revealed that people across most countries in the world believe that the internet has influenced morality in a negative way.

The study, which examined technology use in 32 emerging and developing nations, noted that there was no country where internet was viewed as positively influencing morality.

According to Pew Research’s study, only 29 percent people thought that the internet had a good influence on morality as opposed to 42 percent who thought that it had impacted the moral framework negatively, reported TechCrunch.

It also showed that while 64 percent of the general population, including non-Internet users, believed that the internet had a positive influence on education, 53 percent were of the opinion that internet impacted personal relationships in a positive way.

At least 52 percent of the respondents said that the internet had a positive impact on the economy, the study said.
