42 profiteers fined Rs33,000 in Karachi

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration of Karachi metropolis has challaned 42 shopkeepers and imposed Rs33,000 fine for profiteering and violating official price list.

According to a handout, the administration fined 19 milk sellers, 10 grocers, 10 vegetables sellers and 3 chicken sellers during crackdown.

The action against profiteers were taken in the areas including Liaquat Abad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Murad Memon Goth, Model Colony, Shah Faisal, Saddar, Aram Bagh, Civil Line, Garden, Jamshed Quarters, Gulzar Hijri, Orangi Town, Baldia Town and other areas.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the operation against profiteers will continue till the sale of essential items is not ensured according to officially approved price list.
