ISLAMABAD: The state of basic infrastructure in markets was quite unsatisfactory due to which traders were facing problems in fostering business activities and Capital Development Authority (CDA) should focus on completing developmental works in markets on priority to create conducive business environment.

This was observed by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Khalid Iqbal Malik while talking to a delegation of Traders Welfare Association, Super Market.

Khalid Iqbal Malik said that Super Market was one of the prime markets of Islamabad as foreign diplomats and other VIPs used to visit this market for shopping and urged that CDA should develop this important market on modern lines.

He said an additional storey was direly needed in Super and other markets in Islamabad to facilitate growth of business activities and stressed that CDA should allow its construction. He said the current lease renewal process of CDA was quite difficult due to which renewal of many commercial plots was held up and emphasized that CDA should make lease renewal process easier to redress the problems of business community. He assured that ICCI would fully cooperate with TWA Super Market for resolving its key issues.

Speaking on the occasion, President Shehzad Abbasi, Senior Vice President Ahmed Mughal and General Secretary Muhammad Hussain highlighted key issues of their market. They said Super Market needed many facilities like better parking, footpaths, street lights and filtration plants etc. and urged that CDA should address these issues on priority.

They proposed that ICCI should organize trade festivals in the federal capital that will give boost to business activities. Both sides agreed to develop closer liaison and work jointly for resolving burning issues of traders.
