BRASÍLIA: Accidental leaks are more common than what one would think. This time around it is Motorola’s turn. On its Brazil website, the Lenovo-owned company accidentally leaked the specs of the 4G version of the Moto G, which also flaunts a bigger battery, if you go by the specs the company has listed.
Notably, the 4G version has a 2,390mAh battery, which is larger than the 2,070mAh battery flaunted by the 3G only model. Probably, the larger battery is there to compensate for extra power consumed by 4G connectivity.
Interestingly, it appears the 4G version will add a microSD card slot for memory expansion. According to the listing it will have support for 32GB of storage, but will be only offered in the 16GB storage variant.
Other than this, the phone appears to be identical to what is being offered currently. This includes the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel rear camer, and 2-megapixel front camera.
It will run Android 4.4 KitKat, though the second generation model has already received the update to Lollipop, so this could mean that the phone could launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Considering, the listing has appeared on the site, the launch should not be far away. Probably, Brazil will be the first market for its launch.
In India 4G networks are still not fully developed but 2015 is expected to be the year for change as big telecom operators like Airtel and Reliance Jio are expected to roll out their 4G LTE networks across the country. Airtel, in fact, already has 4G connectivity in limited parts of the country.
