KARACHI: The people of Pakistan’s biggest city have lauded the initiative of Bahria Town former chairman Malik Riaz, who has signed an agreement with K-Electric for generation of 500 megawatts electricity through coal-based and LNG-based power units for Karachi.
According to the deal inked in UAE, K-Electric will set up one coal based and one liquefied natural gas (LNG) based power plant in the metropolis and will supply uninterrupted power to Bahria Town Karachi in the coming 3-4 years.
On the occasion, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain said that billions of rupees electricity projects based on coal and LNG are being built for Karachiites, and it would make 24-hour continuous power supply to Karachi Bahria Town.
He also pledged to putting Karachi on a par with the leading metropolitan cities of the world, and, this time, it’s none other than the hardcore issue of Karachi-the energy crisis. The VCE Bahria Town, Zain Malik and CEO of K-Electric, Tayyab Tareen signed the relevant agreements on behalf of their companies in a solemn ceremony held in Dubai.
They re-affirmed their mutual commitment to strive for the betterment of Karachi. Mr Riaz lauded the K-Electric company for their endeavours to reduce the power crisis in Karachi and expressed his determination to keep on striving and leaving no stone unturned to bring up Karachi on a par with its counterparts in the world.
