Hyderabad customs impounds vehicle & Gutka valued Rs800000, Rs248250 respectively

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Model Customs Collectorate has confiscated 82750 sachets of Indian Gutka worth Rs248250 involving duty and taxes of Rs115179 in the recent two actions in Hyderabad bypass and Tando Allahyer during March 2017.

Additional Collector Rehmat Ullah Vistro told Customs Today that ASO conducted raids on the instructions of Customs Collector Aghah Shahid Majeed Khan.

The ASO team was formed under the supervision of Superintendent Abu Muhammad Warsi including inspectors Iqbal Mughal, Asaduddin Mirza, Mushtaque Ali Lakho, Sepyos Ali Akbar Solangi, Muhammad Essa, Drivers Muhammad Sadiq Khaskheli, Nisar Ahmedani and other staff. The team at checkpoints at the main entry and exit points of the city started checking the vehicles.

During the checking of vehicles, the ASO team intercepted a bus near the bypass, Hyderabad. During the checking, the team recovered 82750 sachets of Indian Gutka smuggled through the bus bound to Karachi from Mirpur Khas.

The officials asked the driver to produce any legal document about the possession of the said items but he failed to produce anything legal.

In another action, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad has impounded a foreign origin non-duty paid Toyota Hilux surf without registration in Tando Allayer. The value of the vehicle is Rs800000.

The ASO, following the instructions of Collector Agha Shahid Majeed Khan, Customs Hyderabad, conducted raids in the region to curb smuggling of non-duty paid vehicles.

The ASO team, led by Additional Collector Rehmat Ullah Vistro, started checking of the vehicles. During the checking, the team intercepted the vehicle. The officials asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle but he could not show any of them. So the officials impounded the vehicle.

After making a seizure report, the team deposited the impounded Toyota and Indian Gutka into Hyderabad State Warehouse. Officials said vigilance has been enhanced against the smuggling of vehicles on roads.
