RTO-II sets up 6 more units to identify new taxpayers

KARACHI: In bid to broaden tax net and to identify new taxpayers, the Regional Tax Office (RTO)–II has established six more units and notified jurisdictions for broadening of tax base (BTB).

The officers will only exercise jurisdiction orders against persons not having NTN/STRN/FTN holder or taxpayers not registered.

The RTO notified six units in two ranges under which officers will exercise under income tax, sales tax federal excise laws.

According to the notification

BTB Range A Unit 01 will exercise on all cases or classes of cases, persons or classes of persons whose place of business is situated in the areas falling within the limits of:

  1. Saddar Town excluding DHA and Clifton Cantonment
  2. Karachi Cantonment

iii. Lyari Town

  1. Liaqatabad Town

All cases of statutory agents/representatives assessable under sections 172 and 173 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Directors of all cases falling in the jurisdiction if not already taxpayers or NTN holders.

Cases of classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by commissioner from time to time.

Cases or classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by Federal Board of Revenue / Chief Commissioner from time to time.

BTB Range A Unit-02 will exercise all cases or classes of cases, persons or classes of persons of following sectors whose place of business is situated in the areas falling within the limits of:

  1. SITE Town
  2. Jamshed Town

iii. Baldia Town

  1. Orangi Town

All cases of statutory agents/representatives assessable under sections 172 and 173 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Directors of all cases falling in the jurisdiction if not already taxpayers or NTN holders.

Cases of classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by commissioner from time to time.

Cases or classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by Federal Board of Revenue / Chief Commissioner from time to time.

BTB Range A Unit-03 will exercise all cases or classes of cases, persons or classes of persons whose place of business is situated in the areas falling within the limits of:

  1. Clifton Cantonment
  2. DHA (All Phases)

iii. Kemari Cantonment

  1. Kemari Town
  2. Manora Cantonment

All cases of statutory agents/representatives assessable under sections 172 and 173 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Directors of all cases falling in the jurisdiction if not already taxpayers or NTN holders.

Cases of classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by commissioner from time to time.

Cases or classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by Federal Board of Revenue / Chief Commissioner from time to time.

BTB Range B Unit -04 will exercise all cases of classes of cases, persons or classes of persons of following areas whose place of business is situated in the areas falling within the limits of:

  1. Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town
  2. Gulistan-e-Jouhar

iii. Shah Faisal Town

  1. Faisal Cantonment
  2. Korangi Town
  3. Korangi Cantonment

vii. Landhi Town

viii. Bin Qasim Town

All cases of statutory agents/representatives assessable under sections 172 and 173 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Directors of all cases falling in the jurisdiction if not already taxpayers or NTN holders.

Cases of classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by commissioner from time to time.

Cases or classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by Federal Board of Revenue / Chief Commissioner from time to time.

BTB Range B Unit – 05 will exercise all cases or classes of cases, persons or classes of persons of following areas whose place of business is situated in the areas falling within the limits of:

  1. North Nazimabad
  2. New Nazimabad

iii. Gulberg Town

  1. New Karachi Town
  2. Gadap Town
  3. Malir Town

vii. Malir Cantonment

All cases of statutory agents/representatives assessable under sections 172 and 173 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Directors of all cases falling in the jurisdiction if not already taxpayers or NTN holders.

Cases of classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by commissioner from time to time.

Cases or classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by Federal Board of Revenue / Chief Commissioner from time to time.

BTB Range B Unit-06 will exercise all salaried employees of federal government and provincial government falling within the limit of civil division Karachi (excluding doctors engaged in private medical practice) and salaried employees of federal and provincial government owned autonomous organizations etc.

All private sector employees falling within the limits of Civil Division of Karachi.

Cases of classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by commissioner from time to time.

Cases or classes of cases or persons or classes of persons or areas assigned specifically by FBR/Chief Commissioner IR from time to time.
