ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power has issued a countywide power load management plan for the upcoming summer season, announcing six-hour power outages in urban and eight-hour in rural areas.
According to a press statement, there will be no loadshedding for industrial sector, however during peak summer months, the industrial load management may be introduced. Six to eight-hour loadshedding schedule will be followed, provided that recoveries from the areas are up to the mark and losses are in permissible limit, says the statement.
The ministry’s spokesperson said that the overall situation of power availability is improving with the system improvements, better management, transparency and more power generation. During the coming summer, generation capacity is expected at 85 percent against 60 percent in 2013, the statement added.
The loadshedding duration on average has witnessed a 50 percent decline as compared to year 2013 and will continue to decline more after peak summer months. The areas where ratio of recoveries is satisfactory and losses are in limits, there will be predictable and planned power outages. However, if the line losses are greater and recoveries are lower, the loadshedding hours will be increased, the statement elaborated.
