KARACHI: The local exporters, during a meeting with Sindh Food Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan, have suggested to export surplus stock of wheat to Madagascar, Sudan and Yemen.

The delegation of the exporters said that a market of 500,000 to 600,000 metric tons exists in these countries. The members were of the view that if the government framed a clear policy then the surplus wheat can be exported to these countries, said an official statement.

The minister informed the delegation that the provincial government wants to come up with a permanent policy for the export of surplus wheat and its by-products.

He was of the view that the government also desires that the growers get the maximum benefit. Wassan pointed out that an effective policy is being framed for the procurement of wheat directly from the growers at the district level.
