650MW agreement with K-Electric: PM constitutes 8-member body

ISLAMABAD: To decide the fate of 650MW agreement with K-Electric, Premier Nawaz Sharif has formed an eight-member body under the supervision of Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif.

Sources said that after the expiry of agreement with K-Electric, there are several issues to resolve. The prime minister constituted the body after a summary sent to him by the Ministry of Water and Power that the company is getting the electricity without any agreement, he added.

A five-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed between the NTDC and K-Electric expired on January 25, 2015 after which the government announced that it would withdraw 650 MW from K-Electric but power supply has continued.
