Customs I&I seizes smuggled carbon steel wire worth Rs5.7m from Mominpura

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized Rs5.7 million smuggled carbon steel wire during crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director Sadia Muneeb received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid carbon steel rods are dumped in a godown located at Mominpura Road .

She immediately constituted a customs I&I squad under the supervision of Assistant Director Amanat Khan. The Customs I&I squad raided a godown located at Mominpura and recovered huge quantity of smuggled carbon steel wire. Sources told that market value of seized carbon wire is Rs5.7 million in international market. Sources told that a case has been registered while further investigations are under way.

It is necessary to mention here that Director Sadia Muneeb directed his staff to adopt zero tolerance pioiucy against smuggling. She further directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt with iron hands and as per law.
