ISLAMABAD: PM Nawaz Sharif has given directions to expedite the work for an early completion of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and urged petroleum ministers of member countries to execute the project immediately.

The premier held a meeting with Petroleum Ministers of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and India in Islamabad. Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was also in attendance.
PM Nawaz said the project is very important for regional countries and a delay in its implementation will add to its cost.
“Pakistan will take all possible measures in this regard,” he added.
The premier also highlighted that Pakistan is facing acute shortage of gas and that TAPI project will help the country in overcoming gas shortage.
The ministers exchanged their views on the gas pipeline project during the meeting.
