ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Tuesday said that the gas companies had given 775,821 new domestic connections to consumers during the last two years.
Giving province-wise breakup during question-hour session of the Senate, he said 493,522 gas connections were given in Punjab, 85,790 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 158,886 in Sindh, 19,526 in Balochistan, 17, 278 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 819 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) were providing gas connections to domestic consumers on a prescribed application performa. To a question, the minister said the statutory audit of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) was conducted every year.
The auditors, in its report on accounts for the year ended on June 30, 2015, Jam, identified no irregularity in the company accounts. To another question, the minister said the design of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline has the provision for supply of gas to nine off-take points along its route.
