8,500 tons/day production: K-Electric to give 40 MW to DG cement, constructs 12km-long 132 KV transmission line

KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) and DG Cement Ltd have reached an agreement, through which the power utility will provide 40 megawatt electricity to DG Cement’s new plant, which has production capacity of 8,500 tons per day in Hub, Balochistan.

According to KE’s press statement, KE would be providing electricity from their Hub Grid Station whereas DG Cement Ltd would be constructing a Line Bay and will also construct a 12km long transmission line of 132 KV along with its grid station in Hub, Balochistan.

At the ceremony, K-Electric CEO Tayyab Tareen said, “We have been working very closely with companies and organizations that are heavily involved in reviving the economy of the country, and DG Cement Ltd is no different. We will continue to improve our network and will invest further so as to ensure a smooth and stable supply of electricity.”

Talking about the project DG Cement Ltd’s Raza Mansha briefed that the plant will have capacity to provide 8500 tons of cement per day and will be commissioned and energized by the end of 2017.

The plant will engage 6000 workers during the development phase & will provide employment to about 1000 staff members on completion.
