8,529 used cars worth Rs4.68b imported in July-October

KARACHI: A total of 8,529 used cars were imported into the country during the first four months of the current fiscal year ended 31 October 2014.

The total value of the cars is over Rs 4.68 billion and Rs 3.29 billion customs duty was paid in this regard.

Statistics compiled by All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association show that 8,470 used cars were imported under the Personal Baggage Scheme while 59 were imported under the Transfer of Residence Scheme. No used car was imported under the Gift Scheme.

As many as 6,623 imported cars were up to 1000CC. Cars between 1601CC and 1800CC were 981. Among other used cars, 618 1301-1500CC, 332 4×4 jeeps, twenty 1001-1300CC cars, nine 1801-3000CC cars and six above 3000CC were imported.
