MULTAN: Record cotton production is expected this year in Punjab as the current crop situation is very good.
The Agriculture Department has set target to produce 9.5 million bales. The crop was cultivated in an area of 4.4 million acres, which is less area as compared to last year’s 5.7 million acres. Despite decrease in cultivation area, the department is hopeful to achieve the set target easily.
This was stated by Cotton Research Station Director Dr Sagher Ahmed, while talking to APP here on Saturday. He said that the next 35 days were very crucial and farmers should take special care of cotton crop. They should ensure pests scouting twice in a week. The accumulated rainwater should be drained out and in case of any pest threat, they should contact agricultural experts.
