95,352 wheat seed bags of 50kg to be distributed among farmers

SIALKOT: The Punjab government will soon distribute rust-resistant high yielding certified wheat seed varieties among the farmers as the provincial agriculture department has completed the arrangements.

The sources in Punjab Agriculture Department told the state-owned news agency that the basic concept of the programme was to promote rust resistant high yielding varieties of wheat for sustainable wheat production under the climate change situation in the country.

Under the programme as many as 95,352 wheat seed bags of 50kg will be distributed among the farmers across the province during 2015-16. Sources further added that four bags of 50 Kg of certified seed will be provided to each farmer.

In Sialkot district, as many as 5724 bags of Rust free wheat seed will be distributed in 1431 villages during 2015-16 sources revealed. The agriculture department had finalized necessary arrangements for the distribution of seed bags in the district sources added.
