GILGIT BALTISTAN: Additional Collector Shahid Jan has said that the Customs Collectorate of GB will start working again in April 2020 and the Customs staff of the GB is partly working at Sost dry port.
Talking with Customs Today the Additional Collector GB said that through all the Collectorates working under the Chief Collector North Region the collection of the GB showed exceptional at the revenue collection side during throughout the current season.
Answering to a query regarding revenue performance of first half of (July to December) FY 2019-20 he said that Customs Collectorate Gilgit-Baltistan during the first six months of the current financial year has exhibited outstanding performance in revenue collection coupled with a very effective anti-smuggling activity in a region not commonly known for smuggling of foreign commodities.
The performance of GB Collectorate this year has been historic since the very start of trade activities in this area. On revenue side the Collectorate has been able to collect Rs5 663 million in the first six months and easily surpassed the annual target of Rs4 985 million, he added that during the same corresponding period of previous year, the Collectorate was able to collect total revenue of Rs2829 million.
Shahid told that during current season a very healthy and unprecedented growth of 100 percent has been recorded by the Collectorate during first six months, through the anti-smuggling activities significant quantities of cell phones, fireworks, medicines and liquor have been seized by the Collectorate.
He also appreciated the great efforts of Collector Dr. Tahir Qureshi he added that under leadership of the Collector GB the Collectorate Gilgit Baltistan beat yearly assigned revenue collection target in half year of current financial year 2019-20 under all heads of duty taxes.
Answering to another query he said that that this above success turn out due to fully implementation of WeBOC (Web Based One Customs) at Sost dry port, he quoted that during current season 99 percent of GDs (goods deceleration) processed through WeBOC which is happened first time in the history of the Gilgit-Baltistan.
