The statement further added that the weapons which included 7 AK-47 assault rifles and 40 pistols were hidden in a Toyota Pickup vehicle.

NDS said the smugglers were looking to sell the weapons to militant groups who are looking to stage coordinated attacks across Kabul city.

The detained individuals have confessed that the weapons and ammunition were purchased from a weapon manufacturing company located in Ring Road area of Peshawar city, NDS said.

The statement by NDS also added that numerous attack plots were foiled with the confiscation of weapons and ammunition by the intelligence operatives.
