Collector Mukarram Jah forms body to help families of dead customs employees

LAHORE: Collector Model Customs Collectorate Lahore Preventive Mukarram Jah has formed a committee to facilitate the families of customs employees, who died during service, regarding the Prime Minister Assistance Package.

As per detail, Jah has nominated the officer as counsel who will be responsible for provision of all the facilities under the package, to the families of government employees who died during service tenure, within one month of the incident in pursuance of the orders passed by PM Nawaz Sharif.

An Office Memorandum O.M regarding the assistance package was issued on October 20, 2014 with the latest amendments in the existing assistance package for families. As per O.M, Rs 2.5 million as lump sum grant will be given to the family of BS 1-16 employee who die during service, Rs 4 million to BS 17 officer’s family, Rs 8 million to the family of BS 18-19 officers and Rs 9 million to BS 20 and above. Besides, his spouse shall be entitled to full pension as per rules governing superannuating officials.

Similarly, free education to all children of the deceased government employees up to higher education level including expenses of children on account of tution fee, books and related material.  Government will also provide cash payment in leiu of plot of land up to Rs 7 million according to the scale of employees, employment to his one son or daughter to the posts in BS 01 to BS 15 on regular basis , marriage grant amounting to Rs 0.80 million on wedding of one daughter etc.
