Kuwait, UAE joint operation foil attempt to smuggle 4.5m narcotic pills

KUWAIT CITY: Two Emiratis and a Syrian national were arrested for smuggling 4.5 million narcotic pills into UAE here the other day.

UAE’s Minister of Interior praised the fruitful cooperation between Kuwait Ministry of Interior’s Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) and its counterpart in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates for foiling the attempt to smuggle narcotics into UAE.

According to security sources, when DGDC received information about the suspect’s intention to smuggle drugs into UAE, Director of DGDC Major General Saleh Al-Ghannam notified UAE’s Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Abdulhameed Al-Awadhi regarding the issue. Detective officers from Kuwait left the country to join their counterparts in Al-Ain, UAE where they investigated to confirm the information. They eventually raided the den and arrested the three suspects in possession of 4.5 million narcotic pills, which were hidden inside wooden boards.
